I build calm, reliable software with a soft spot for boring tech that lasts. Fourteen years shipping for startups and small teams in Malaysia — I pick the right tool for each problem and get it into production.
Senior full-stack engineer based in Shah Alam, just outside Kuala Lumpur. I work with founders and small product teams to ship Rails monoliths that don't fall over under their own weight.
These days a lot of that work is AI engineering — wiring LLMs into real products: retrieval pipelines, agents and tool-calling, evals, and the plumbing that keeps them reliable in production rather than impressive in a demo.
Most days: a long write-up before code, a small PR, a couple of reviews, a walk in the afternoon. A planted aquarium sits on my desk — a good system for thinking about feedback loops, restraint, and patience.
I maintain open source gems, packages and small public tools in my own time. If any of it saved you an afternoon, you can buy me a coffee or sponsor the work.
Sponsorship is never required. Bug reports, patches and a kind word count just as much — hello@khairi.my.
